Normally, around this time of the year the DCF would be running our club forums. This is not something we are able to do at this time. As an alternative, and to support clubs we are working with our Cricket Development Groups to run a Meeting within each district.
Many Cricket organisations, during this period have been doing some extraordinary things in order to either support themselves as clubs or help out in the community. This includes Holmewood CC. They have been making a big difference in their community.
Last week ECB published their 5 Step Roadmap highlighting that currently the game is in Step 3 of its return. The ECB will continue to work with and be led by UK Government advice, only advising clubs move into step 4 when the Government allows and when it is deemed medically safe to do so.
The new challenge for 2020 is for participants to walk a minimum of 20 miles during the week of 27th July – 2nd August!
Members and volunteers from Spondon Cricket Club are to take on the equivalent of a walk to the home of cricket to raise money to ensure their survival through the coronavirus lay-off.
During the pandemic DCF has been maintaining regular contact with leagues and clubs to provide support at this difficult time. This has included video meetings, webinars, email, and telephone conversations to discuss concerns and plans for the 2020 season and beyond.
