We invited a number of local Primary schools including Derwent, Dale and Village primary school to take part in an educational day out at the Pattonair County Ground. We did a great deal of learning with the emphasis on it being fun. We decorated our own flags adorned with glitter and textured card celebrating the history of the ICC Cricket World. Developed an understanding of why it’s important to make healthy choices about the food we eat and benefits of moderation! Can you believe it we even managed to squeeze some cricket games in on Derbyshire’s out field.
This project was able to run with the funding received from the Derby County Community Trust as a part of their ‘This is Derby’ 2018/19 project.
The project was backed by the Department for Education’s Opportunity Area Fund which saw the sports and arts sectors of the city come together to better the futures of Derby’s youngsters. The project was successful in securing £1 million from the government fund whose aims were to the educational attainment of 5-18 year olds in Derby who live within higher areas of deprivation, as outlined by the Department for Education.
