Ground Maintenance

Ground Maintenance

The Derbyshire Groundsman’s Association was formed in 1999 by the Derbyshire Cricket Board with the aims of promoting the role of the cricket groundsmen for the benefit of cricket in Derbyshire.

Currently Steve Hart of Sandiacre is the Chairman, and Keith Redfern of Duffield is secretary.

Since its formation the association has negotiated discounts for members with pitch care products to help to reduce the costs to clubs with loam, seed and fertilisers.

The association has also provided funding for formal training courses with the professional body and provided free advice from an ECB pitch advisor, who will meet groundsmen at the ground and discuss any issues they may have.

The association can give details of machinery repairers and suppliers who have regularly provided quality service to members over the years.

Two trailers equipped with end of season renovation equipment are available to member clubs each Autumn.

Meetings are held throughout the season to discuss issues and meet fellow groundsmen, with the AGM being held in January each year.

The annual subscription for the association is £25.00. All DCCL Premier and Division one clubs have their subscriptions included in their league subscriptions.
